The Yow Yows

Video content for the above

Based on tales told by generations of fishermen on the North Norfolk Coast, the Yow-Yows are said to be the ghosts of sailors who were not given formal burials with religious rites. These animations explore two interpretations of the legend.

Sherringham and Cromer fishermen didn’t always get on. "Oi, Sherringham!" "Oi, Cromer!" "*rasp*"

One day a shipwreck washed up on the beach. Neither side could agree who should bury the sailors. So they buried them in one big hole. Their ghosts, known as Yow-Yows, came back to lure lonely fishermen to their doom.
