Based on the true story
of The Thorpe Railway disaster of 10 September 1874
when a train from Yarmouth and an express from London to Yarmouth met headlong upon a single track at Thorpe
resulting in the deaths of over twenty passengers and crew and many more being seriously injured.
On the 10th September 1874, a train was leaving Yarmouth for Norwich.
Meanwhile another train was loading with coal at Norwich.
Neither was aware of the other train and they met at Thorpe with a terrible crash.
