The Thorpe Rail Accident

Based on the true story of The Thorpe Railway disaster of 10 September 1874 when a train from Yarmouth and an express from London to Yarmouth met headlong upon a single track at Thorpe resulting in the deaths of over twenty passengers and crew and many more being seriously injured.

On the 10th September 1874, a train was leaving Yarmouth for Norwich. Meanwhile another train was loading with coal at Norwich. Neither was aware of the other train and they met at Thorpe with a terrible crash.
