The Oliver de Ingham clip is a brief extract from a presentation by Ian Pycroft about the lives of the medieval knights of England. The Night of Knights tale was inspired by a story first published in Charles Sampson’s Ghosts of the Broads in 1931.

My name's Ian from Black Night historical and it's a pleasure to be here today to talk about Oliver de Ingam and medieval knights. A knight would wear his coat of arms. It's what it's called, a coat with his arms on it, his heraldic device. This is called a surcoat, French for overcoat, a device a medieval knight would wear for identification on the battlefield and a tournament when jousting. Oliver de Ingam lived at the end of the 13th to the early part of the 14th century, and saw service with three kings of England. Not bad for a local chap from Ingham, a little village up the road.
