A tale inspired by an incident at North Walsham in 1788 when actress Mrs. Barry placed her hand upon a skull during the play The Fair Penitent
then suddenly collapsed and died.
The skull turned out to be that of her first husband.
Mrs. Barry was playing Kallista for a local play. As her head touched the skull she fainted suddenly. Mrs. Barry was shocked to discover the head belonged to a certain Mr. Norris.
Six weeks later she died mysteriously
and was buried next to her first husband.
